Doers Project #3: Rowena Scherer | Eat 2 Explore on changing business model but keeping the mission & more
“Businesses fail not because of the product. Most of the time it’s because the founder gives up.
You gotta keep at it.”
Rowena is the founder and CEO of Eat 2 Explore. She started it for her own kids, and soon realized she could share the idea with the world and make it a business. In Malaysia, where she was born and raised, she said that she would cook with her family all the time, which is something we don’t see much here in America. So Eat 2 Explore is a way to “come together as a family over the 3 Cs: Country, Culture & Cuisine.”
“Eat 2 Explore is a family cooking kit that delivers cultural education through cuisine, while providing the hard-to-find spices and sauces that make the meal unique.”
When she started, it was supposed to be a meal kit with fresh ingredients. She soon realized this wasn’t a good model and changed the business. But her mission stayed the same: help families enjoy time together while learning about different cultures and cuisine.
Rowena is a doer because she had an idea, she started it, changed it, and kept going. She didn’t let the obstacles on the way stop her, and now she has proved the concept, given jobs, and is thriving. In February, I visited her facility in Tuxedo, NY, to interview her for our #DoersProject series. Learn more about Rowena and Eat 2 Explore journey watching the video below!
